Welcome to Happy Paws Pet Services. We are based in Witchford, Cambridgeshire and our services cover Ely and the surrounding villages. We tailor our visits around our clients and their pet’s needs and we pride ourselves on providing a professional, reliable and friendly service. We offer a dog walking and pet sitting service. Founded in 2017, we started out as just myself and Jennie. We are now a team of 5 dog walkers with two of us covering the cat/small furry pet sits as well.

My name is Catherine Tromans and I am the proud owner of Happy Paws. I am a qualified registered Veterinary Nurse, living in Witchford, Ely, with over 20 years experience in animal care, welfare and health. I qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2005 and I am very passionate about responsible pet ownership.
I have two cats of my own called Bailey and Wilbur – 8 year old brothers who live for mischief (and their food!). Having worked at Cambridge Veterinary Group (south of Ely) for the last 19 years, I am experienced in handling and caring for dogs, cats, small furries and also exotic animals; CVG is a practice that specialises in exotic species.

SMALL ANIMAL VISITS
AS A QUALIFIED VET NURSE WHO WORKS IN A VET PRACTICE THAT SPECIALISES IN EXOTIC SPECIES I AM EXTREMELY EXPERIENCED IN HANDLING SMALL FURRIES, REPTILES AND BIRDS. WE OFFER TWICE DAILY VISITS TO YOUR HOME IN OR NEAR ELY, WHICH WOULD INCLUDE FEEDING, CLEANING OUT CAGES, CHANGING WATER BOTTLES/BOWLS AND MONITORING FOR ANY SIGNS OF ILL HEALTH WHILST YOU ARE AWAY.

CAT SITTING
CATS ARE CREATURES OF HABIT AND EASILY GET STRESSED BY A CHANGE OF ENVIRONMENT. OUR CAT SITTING SERVICE ALLOWS YOUR CAT(S) TO REMAIN IN THEIR OWN HOME - A PERFECT, AFFORDABLE ALTERNATIVE TO A CATTERY WHILST YOU ARE AWAY. WE OFFER TWICE DAILY VISITS AND DURING EACH 20- 30 MINUTE VISIT CATS ARE FED, LITTER TRAYS CHANGED, BOWLS CLEANED AND CUDDLES AND ATTENTION GIVEN IF THIS IS WHAT YOUR PET WOULD LIKE. PLEASE DISCUSS WITH US ANY OTHER REQUIREMENTS YOUR PET MAY HAVE.

EXERCISE AND MENTAL STIMULATION FOR YOUR DOG WHILST YOU ARE AT WORK/OUT ALL DAY OR MAYBE YOU HAVE RECENTLY BEEN ILL OR REQUIRED SURGERY. WE OFFER A VISIT SERVICE THAT CAN INCLUDE A WALK OR JUST A PLAY IN THE GARDEN. WE WILL ALSO CHANGE WATER BOWLS AND CLEAN OFF PAWS. WE TEND TO DO SOLO WALKS SO YOUR DOG(S) GETS ONE-TO-ONE ATTENTION. OCCASIONALLY WE MAY WALK YOUR DOG WITH ONE OTHER DOG IF APPROPRIATE AND WITH YOUR PERMISSION.
FROM £8.50/ 30 MINUTE VISIT/WALK OR FROM £12.50/HOUR.

HOME SECURITY
WE WILL ALSO TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR HOME AND GARDEN WHILST YOU ARE AWAY. INCLUDED IN OUR PET SIT VISITS, WE WILL OPEN AND CLOSE CURTAINS, TAKE IN POST, TURN LIGHTS ON AT NIGHT, PUT BINS OUT AND WATER PLANTS. YOUR HOME WILL APPEAR LIVED IN AND YOU WILL HAVE THE ADDED SECURITY AND PEACE OF MIND THAT IT IS BEING CHECKED DAILY.
MEDICATION
AS A QUALIFIED VET NURSE I AM EXPERIENCED IN MEDICATING PETS OF ALL SPECIES. SHOULD YOUR PET HAVE AN ILLNESS OR CONDITION WHICH REQUIRES MEDICINE WHILST YOU ARE AWAY I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO DO THIS AT NO EXTRA COST. YOUR PET'S HEALTH AND WELLBEING WILL ALSO BE CHECKED ON EACH VISIT. SHOULD YOU ALSO REQUIRE MORE THAN TWO VISITS/DAY OUR CARE PACKAGE CAN BE TAILORED TO YOUR PET'S NEEDS.

WHY CHOOSE HAPPY PAWS?
DO YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH EXOTIC PETS?
Having worked in a Veterinary Practice that specialises in Exotic species for the last 19+ years I am very happy looking after them and have a great deal of experience in handling and feeding them.
HOW MANY DOGS CAN YOU WALK AT ONCE?
We understand that all dogs have individual needs and that pack walking is not appropriate for every dog. We therefore do not offer a pack walking service and tend to do individual solo walks, providing your dog with one-to-one attention. Occasionally we may pair two appropriate dogs for some walks (with your permission). Obviously if you have more than one dog we will be happy to walk your dogs together.
WHAT IF MY PET FALLS ILL WHILST I AM AWAY?
If your pet was to fall ill or become injured whilst you are away then we will immediately take them to your own vet practice for treatment and inform you. Please be assured that your pet(s) will be observed closely for any signs of illness or pain on every visit.
Should there be an emergency with your property we will deal with the situation immediately.
WILL YOU BE ABLE TO SEND ME UPDATES AS TO HOW MY CAT IS DOING WHILST I AM AWAY?
We are very happy to send you a text, Whatsapp or email every few days with photos and an update on how your pet is doing. If there was to be any concerns whilst you were away we would also contact you immediately.
